           Moving a steel framed piano or a slate pool table isn’t for the faint of heart, the unfit or the un-muscled.             Once all of the costs have been factored in, moving “on the cheap” can cost a lot more than you might expect! It can significantly increase your risk of personal injury and damage to your assets.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

           Let me give you an example scenario to compare outcomes.

  &lt;/h5&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;

           PACKING
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h4&gt;&#xD;

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Scenario: Moving a 3 bedroom home to a nearby town, approximately an hours drive away. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           First thing’s first – loose and smaller items will need to be packed into boxes. On average, a 3 bedroom home will need between 30 - 50 cartons. If you bought these from a packing supply shop, you could expect to pay around $5.50 per carton. And of course you would need tape, packing paper, markers and bubblewrap.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           For the actual move, assuming you do not already own a fully equipped removal truck, you would need to hire a vehicle capable of moving the load. With a car licence you are able to drive a truck rated up to 4.5 tonne GVM, which equates to a furniture pan-tech with about 15-18m3 usable capacity. The average 3 bedroom home is between 35 and 45m3. Therefore, the chance of completing the move in one trip is pretty slim. Unless you are an experienced Furniture Removalist, it would probably take you about two full days to complete the move. So if you hired a vehicle for your move, you would need to lease it for a 3 day period (you would need to ensure the vehicle was returned at close of business).
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
        
            You would also need to make sure that you have the right equipment to move everything safely without damaging the furniture or yourself. You may require a heavy duty hand trolley and/or dolly for large appliances like the fridge and washing machine. To protect the goods, you would need plenty of furniture blankets to wrap the furniture in and plastic covers for protecting mattresses and lounges. You would also need to take some measures to protect the walls and floors of the property you are moving from and to.This would ideally involve using equipment designed for the job - protective floor runners, wall and corner protectors and ramps. You would also need labour to complete the move.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;

          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Moving house is not a fun job – a mate would have to owe you a pretty big favour to help you move house! If you were not lucky enough to have free help on hand, you would have to pay for some help.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           So, with all of these factors taken into account - a move on a budget could look like this:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

           Obviously this estimate is based on average prices, and not everyone will need to take on all of these expenses, but it is easy to see how it can add up. If you compare these costs to the quote that you receive from a local Removalist, you might be surprised how little the margin really is. When you consider the additional expenses a professional Removal company has to cover (premises, wages for at least two men, business costs and high insurance premiums, you can start to understand why professional Removalists charge as they do.

           The Furniture Removal Industry is unique, because although it is a highly competitive market and predominantly price driven, it is also dependent on its members delivering the highest quality service. Reputation is the fundamental factor that determines a Removalist’s future success. Delivering high standards of service at an affordable cost to the consumer, while remaining viable as a business is a constant challenge for Removal businesses.
          &#xD;

Caution is advised when choosing a service solely based on reviews though as some companies will post fake reviews to their accounts. Google has very strict rules when it comes to false reviews, and enforces them actively, but it is certainly worth bearing in mind.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

           Unfortunately, the Australian Removal Industry is not well regulated, and almost anyone with no experience at all can buy a van and call themselves a removalist. It may be difficult to determine from an e-mail or telephone conversation whether you are dealing with a trustworthy company or not.            2. Where is their office base?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           3. How experienced are their staff? What training have they received?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           4. What is their quoting process and booking procedure?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           5. How transparent is their quote? Are there any hidden fees, rates or undisclosed charges in their quote?
          &#xD;

      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

           Using the above checklist, combined with some online detective work through checking and comparing of reviews, you should be able to get a good idea of the type of company you are engaging with.

           Then there is the local factor. If you are moving locally, consider your local removalists first. They will most likely know the area very well, be the most efficient and cost effective and will also most likely be the ones who will care about your belongings as if they were their own. Larger companies may have the name and size, but because you don't need a trade certificate to move furniture, you could end up with someone who is lacking in the skills mentioned above and end up with breakages or damage to property.

            Probably one of the more tedious tasks in the whole moving process, if not done correctly and with thought, can result in damages or missing items. Breakable items like china, glassware and ornaments must be wrapped in protective packing paper or bubble wrap and packed securely into strong, cardboard cartons. Try to avoid bags and plastic crates wherever possible. Remove all cords from electrical items to avoid damage and keep packed with the item it is for. Clearly mark on each carton your name, the contents of the cartons and the room it came from.

Standard practice for a good removal service is, beds, tables (If required) and basic, standard furniture items. Whatever the removalists dismantle, they should reassemble upon delivery. But double check this with your movers.

Like your suitcases, school bags, bathroom items, laptops, tablets, phones and their chargers.            Furniture removalists will do a lot of pre-preparation before they start loading the truck on uplift day. But there are still a few things that you could do to streamline the process. If you are moving a long distance, interstate or regional, It is good idea to make sure the fridge is cleaned and dried thoroughly at least 12 hours prior to uplift. This is to prevent mould forming inside the fridge and keep if smelling fresh when it arrives at your new home.

           Preparing for a move is also the perfect opportunity to give your furniture a good clean and wax for the special wooden pieces. Furniture wax adds an additional protective coat that will actually protect the piece from surface scratches.

           So here it is, my complete guide to packing your goods properly, safely and quickly. What you will need, what needs to be packed, how to keep everything safe and how to find everything when you move into your new home.

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            There are a variety of packing materials available to use, but high quality cardboard cartons are by far the best option. Most of the larger removal companies and self storage facilities in Toowoomba have a good range available for sale to the general public.
           &#xD;

    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

           If you are using a removalist for your move, they should be the first people you ask as they often will supply cartons to their customers at a cheaper rate and may even collect them once you have finished unpacking. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

           PLASTIC STORAGE TUBS
          &#xD;

           These are great for exactly that, storage! When it come to transporting them, they rarely stand up to the task.
          &#xD;

      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

            They become very brittle over time, causing the lids to crack and cave in - potentially damaging the contents inside.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           The castors fall off or the plastic clips holding the lid on fail, spilling the contents (and you had better hope its not Lego) all over the place. If you have to use them, keep them very light and never pack anything breakable in them. Moving bags are also a popular choice, but should only be used for light bedding and clothes as they can tear quite easily.
           &#xD;

           TEA CHEST AND BOOK/WINE CARTONS

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Tea chests, often referred to as standard cartons, should be your go to carton for most of your small items. They are great for kitchenware, clothes, ornaments, games and almost all your other household Items. Removalsts will often load furniture on top of these as they are very strong if packed right.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            To pack a tea chest correctly, first - tape up the under side of the carton. Use at least one strip of tape over the join and at least one strip of tape across the join (perpendicular to the previous strip). Start by placing something protective in the bottom of the carton like bedding or scrunched up packing paper. Then, starting with heavier, larger items, start packing.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Make sure that you fill as much of the internal volume as possible. Ideally, once packed, they should not be any heavier than 15-20 kgs. So, to avoid injury or damage, pack heavier items like books, magazines, canned food, wine, weights and heavier tools into book/wine cartons. 
            &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;

           GLASSWARE AND BREAKABLES
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            When it comes to the more delicate or fragile items like glassware, ornaments and china, there are a few extra tips you should be aware of to make sure everything gets to the destination in one piece. Wrap every item individually with at east one sheet of butchers/packing paper. Once wrapped, pack items into cartons the right way up, or to the items strength. That means packing plates, wineglasses and teacups vertically.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Never on their side or laying flat! It goes without saying, keep the heavier items (plates) lower in the cartons and lighter items (wineglasses) near the top. Mark fragile on the cartons and let the movers know which cartons are fragile before they start loading.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           They will then know to keep them higher in the load and the right way up. Use scrunched up packing paper at the bottom, along the inside wall’s and at the top of the carton.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;

           ARTWORK
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h4&gt;&#xD;

    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Artwork can be very valuable and/or sentimental and can often be irreplaceable. That is why packing and preparation of artwork for a relocation needs to be done properly to avoid breakage in transit.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Bubble wrap is great for artworks as it also protects the art from dust or felt from the furniture blankets. If you are transporting an exposed painting without a frame, it may be best to look for professional laminated wraps.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

           Although more expensive, they offer superior protection as they have a thin sheet of poly packaging on one side to protect against the abrasive bubble wrap. Once wrapped, place the artwork inside a flat carton or picture carton. Clearly mark on the carton which side the front of the painting is facing.

      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

           HANGING CLOTHES
          &#xD;

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            To keep your fine clothes like suits and dresses in good condition, and for ease of packing and un-packing, port-a-robes are fantastic!
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Just seal the bottom of the carton, Put the hanging bar across the top of the carton and transfer your hanging suits or gowns straight from your wardrobe into the port-a-robe.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           If you are storing your clothes for a while, it may be a good idea to seal the carton completely and throw in some moisture absorbing sachets.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;

            Expensive electronic equipment such as stereos and game consoles need to be packed securely for transport as these items can damage easily. Re-packing the items into their original packaging is the best solution, if you remembered to keep them.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Otherwise, wrap the goods in butchers/packing paper and pack the equipment flat (the correct way up), or vertically (front up). Use a layer of bedding or a cushion between each tier.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

           Make sure cords and USBs have been disconnected and you have kept track of where they come from. A good tip is to take a reference photo of the rear of the equipment before you disconnect the leads.

            This will make it easy to relocate and reposition at the delivery destination.

On move day however, their relocation can become quite an obstacle. Especially if they are not being handled correctly by trained and experienced removalists.

           This post addresses how a professional piano move should be conducted, utilising the services of a professional removalist who has experience with piano moves. Moving these large instruments should always be left to professionals - such as the team at Toowoomba Sensitive Freight.

           Pianos are heavy…..very heavy! An upright piano usually weighs between 200 and 400 kgs depending on the size and model. A Baby Grand Piano usually weighs around 300 kgs. Pianolas and Concert Grand Pianos often weigh in excess of 500 kgs! The reason pianos are so heavy is because of their cast iron harp, which makes up about 70% of the total weight. The rest of the weight is a compilation of heavy timber, 220 steel strings, the keys and everything else that makes a piano function. In this blog, I will only discuss moving the more common upright pianos. Grand Piano removals are a lot more involved and will require a post of their own.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

           To move these instruments, we at Toowoomba Sensitive Freight use a range of specialised equipment. We use our custom built piano trolly, lifting straps, rubber access ramps, high tension furniture straps, large aluminium walk-up ramps, plenty of furniture blankets and adequate floor protection. Of course, we also use our reliable furniture truck for the transport of the piano. It is equipped with a hydraulic tailgate lifter.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Although typically I would suggest a requirement of 3-4 strong people to move a piano, professional movers such as ourselves can confidently complete the task with just two highly trained professionals. With over ten years experience using high quality, reliable equipment to move pianos, we have fine tuned our technique.

           UPLIFT
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           The first step in the process is always a thorough property access check. Before we even quote on a piano move, we check the access points at the upload and delivery addresses. We look for stairs, obstructions, un-even ground surface, steep driveways, adequate truck access and any parking restrictions. Once we have determined that the piano can be relocated safely, we check the piano over for defects and damages, both structural and cosmetic, and make sure the owner is aware of these prior to the uplift.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Once we are satisfied with the property access, we assess if any pre-removal preparations are required for the piano itself. We often remove candelabras on the particularly old units, make sure the key cover is secure and locked, and make sure the handles at the rear are in good order. Next, we prepare the uplift address property for the removal. We lay out floor protection if necessary and move items of furniture that may obstruct our path. We use rubber access ramps for doorways and door sills.  If there are steps on the property, we utilise our two-piece aluminium walk-up ramps.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           We position the piano trolley in front of the piano, in the centre. We then take our positions either side of the piano. In one smooth lift, we place the unit onto the trolley. This is the only time the piano needs to be lifted by manpower. Lifting a 300 kg piano onto a 20 cm platform is no easy feat! The rubber grip on the trolley allows us to utilise leverage to manoeuvre the piano through the house and onto the tailgate lift at the entrance to the truck.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Once the piano is in the truck, we repeat the process in reverse order and lift the piano off of the trolley. Here we expertly wrap the piano with clean, thick furniture pads, and securely strap it to the inside wall of the truck.
          &#xD;

      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

            Upon delivery, we establish where the client would like their piano placed. We keep in mind that pianos are delicate and intricate instruments - they should never be positioned near a window, under an air-conditioner, or outdoors. We then set up the ramps, protect the floor if required and simply begin the process again.

           Once in position, we always recommend using protective cups under the piano's hard castors for protection, and to avoid the piano damaging the floor over time. It is also a good idea to allow 2 or 3 centimetres between the rear of the instrument and the wall to allow the sound to escape efficiently, and to put a barrier between the piano and the exterior wall, to protect it against variations in temperature and moisture.

           4-2 Weeks from Moving Date:

           1. Establish a move date or at least narrow it down to a specific week.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           2. Make sure you know exactly what will need to be moved, this will allow the removalists to quote with confidence and will ultimately ensure you get the best price.

            3. Contact local removal companies, be as forthcoming as possible with dates and details. Try to obtain at least three quotes from professional moving companies.

           4. If possible, allow the removal companies to inspect the goods on-site. This shows their commitment to providing you an accurate quote and a professional service.

           5. Establish your budget, obtain a written quotation and establish moving transit insurance. Organise Contents and Household Insurance for your new home.

           6. Notify electoral office, department of transport and any other government departments of your new address.

           12. Make sure all the open packets of food have been consumed or disposed of prior to the move. Get rid of any expired products and start using up the food in the freezer.

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           13. Obtain a prohibited goods list from your moving company. dispose of all flammable liquids. (Garden chemicals, paint, paint thinners, cleaning fluids, bleach, fuel, aerosols of any kind etc.) 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           14. Create a folder for all your moving documents. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           15. Arrange to have your mail held or redirected to your new address. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           16. Organise school or childcare transfers.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

            17. Have a safe place for all of your important documents, keys, device charges, currency and passports. Have them with you for the move.

           18. Arrange a rubbish pick-up with the local Council.

           19. Return borrowed items to friends, rental shops and libraries.

           20. Confirm with lawyers/Real Estate Agents that keys will be collected at least one day before your scheduled delivery.

           21. Collect family and pet medical records including dental and school records.

           23. Transfer and set up utilities at your new address.

           24. Review home and contents/car insurance

           If you are packing yourself:

            1. Source packing cartons.  Ask your moving company or try hardware stores and storage facilities. Use white butcher's paper to wrap fragile items 
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           2. On every carton, clearly label the contents and its room destination. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           3. Prepare an inventory list of each carton. Mark FRAGILE were required and advice your removalists on the move day. Note all dents and scratches. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           4.. Pack lighter items into tea chest sized cartons and heavier items into book cartons. Keep the cartons under 20 kg.

           5.. Anything that fits into a carton should be packed into a carton.

           3. Arrange final readings of gas and electricity meters.

           3. Disconnect washing machine hoses and power, Secure drum with transit bolts.

           4. Unplug, tie up and label electrical appliance cords.

           5. Put aside essential and personal items in a designated area and instruct removalists and packers not to move.

           1. Introduce yourself to your new neighbours and let them know what time the truck is expected to arrive.

           2. If you have moved into a rental property, make sure you complete your entry condition report before the delivery of your furniture.

           3. Check that all your utilities have been connected, hot water service on.
