Moving a steel framed piano or a slate pool table isn’t for the faint of heart, the unfit or the un-muscled. While they are large and appear indestructible, both pool tables and pianos have components that are easily damaged, whether that be felt tops on pool tables, or ornate timber-work on a piano.

At a bare minimum you are likely to be required to hire or borrow either a ute with a very large tray or a trailer, but to be honest, because of the weight of them, you will generally have to incur the cost of hiring a 3 tonne truck with a tail lift.

That full concert grand pianos can weigh up to 544kgs. Or that baby grand pianos weigh an average of 282 kgs and, while not quite the same size or weight as a grand piano, steel framed upright pianos range in weight from 150 kgs right up to 450 kgs. And, while an MDF constructed pool table weighs in at around 80 kgs, a slate bedded table can easily come in closer to the 800 kg mark, with some tables weighing in excess of 1000kgs.
